A journalist, writer and researcher Vladimir Polushin turns 70

He was awarded the Order of Merit of the II degree in honor of the anniversary

Tiraspol, November 4. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Today is the birthday of Vladimir Leonidovich Polushin, a citizen of the Tiraspol. Candidate of Philological and Doctor of Historical Sciences, poet, writer, researcher was born in Tiraspol on November 4, 1950. A graduate of secondary school No. 3, received his first higher education in Odessa, where he graduated from the radio faculty of the Electrotechnical Institute named after A.S. Popov. Then he entered the Moscow Literature Institute named after A.M. Gorky of the Union of Writers of the USSR, where he graduated from the poetry seminar of Vladimir Tsybin. Vladimir Leonidovich is the Member of the Writers’ Union of Russia, chairman of the section on the literary heritage of Gumilev, noted on the website of the State Administration of Tiraspol.

Vladimir Polushin began his professional career in the field of journalism and literature at the “Dnestrovskaya Pravda” newspaper office in the late 1970s. From 1980 to 1984 he worked as a staff correspondent for the republican newspaper “Molodej Moldavii” continuing to publish his articles in “Dnestrovskaya Pravda”. He didn’t terminate cooperation with the newspaper in the early 1990s, already being a deputy of the City Council of Tiraspol.

In 1990, he founded in Tiraspol the first publishing house from the All-Russian Society of Friends of the Book and the All-Russian Cultural Fund. On his initiative, the Descendants Foundation of A.S. Pushkin was created, since 1999 he has been its permanent vice-president. With the assistance of Vladimir Polushin, the head of the Pushkin House, the poet’s great-granddaughter Yulia Grigorievna Pushkina, came to Tiraspol, she took part in several creative meetings dedicated to the work of her famous predecessor.

The book by Vladimir Polushin about Pushkin’s lineage “The Descendants of the Great Tree” was created on the basis of unique archival materials. For this work, the author was awarded three times: a diploma with the award of the honorary degree “Laureate of the sixth Artiada of the peoples of Russia” in the league of masters in the category “Literature” in the “Guild of Professionals” in 2001, by the decree of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin – the Silver Medal of Pushkin, and in 2004 – the All-Russian Pushkin Literary Prize “The Captain's Daughter”. He is the scriptwriter for the film “Zimniye Novelly” about Pushkin’s descendants, for which he was awarded the first Pushkin Prize of the Governor of Krasnoyarsk Region in the field of culture and art.

For his big contribution to modern literature he was several times awarded, including the Order of “Science, Education, Culture”, established by the European Informatization Academy, created under a decree of the King of the Belgians.

Vladimir Polushin devoted several of his books to the life and work of the famous poet of the Silver Age, N. S. Gumilеv. For many years, Vladimir Polushin has been conducting a detailed research of the life and work of the famous Tiraspol native inhabitant avant-gardist Mikhail Larionov and his wife Natalia Goncharova. In 2016, the book “Natalia Goncharova: the queen of Russian avant-garde” was published in the book of series “The Life of Wonderful People”. For the artist’s anniversary in 2021, in the same series, the book “Mikhail Larionov: the rebellion of the avant-garde or life without commandments” is being prepared for publication.

In total, Vladimir Leonidovich Polushin is the author and author-compiler of 55 books: poetic, prose, literary, historical, which made the author famous not only in Russia, but also abroad.

For local historians, an important work is the first, most complete study of the pre-revolutionary history of Tiraspol and the Tiraspol uyezd “Tiraspol on the verge of centuries”. For him, the author was awarded the degree of Doctor of Historical Sciences. Currently, the author is working on a new book on the history of the city in the 20th century, which is called “Tiraspol in the era of changes.”

Today Vladimir Polushin lives and works in Russia. His fruitful work doesn’t go unnoticed by the leadership of our republic. In 2019, he was awarded the medal “For Strengthening International Cooperation” by the President of the PMR, on September 2, 2020 – the medal “30 Years of the PMR”, and for his anniversary, according to the decree of the President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the II degree.
