Tiraspol, October 14. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. A special cancellation of the first day cover and six postage stamps, completing the series dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Civil War of 1918-1920 on the territory of modern Pridnestrovie was held in the Tiraspol United Museum today.
“This is the history of our region. We do not focus on who is right and who is wrong in that fratricidal war. We cherish the memory of those events,” Vsevolod Lavrentiev, Director of the State Unitary Enterprise Mark of Pridnestrovie Publishing House, said in an interview with journalists.
The six final stamps of the series depict the Civil War soldiers and elements of their equipment (badges, cockades, chevrons). Two previous parts of the same series, covering 1918 and 1919, respectively, were created under the same principle.
On the first day cover, there are Grigory Kotovsky and the Order of the Red Banner depicted on one side, while on the other side, there are depicted General Nikolay Bredov and commemorative sign established in exile for the participants of the AFSR troops expedition (Armed Forces of the South of Russia) from Tiraspol to Poland, which he led. In particular, rider of the 2nd Cavalry General of the Drozdovsky regiment, infantryman of the AFSR, cavalryman and foot soldier of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army are depicted on the stamps presented today.
The author of sketches for these six stamps, as well as for two previous issues on the same subject matter, is Vladimir Chernetsov. He has already published the first part of the work on the uniform of the warring parties in 1918-90 in our region. This year it was planned to issue the second one, but the coronavirus pandemic prevented him. Vladimir Chernetsov is not able to return to Pridnestrovie from abroad. But, as Vsevolod Lavrentiev noted, the book is almost ready for printing.
The Mark of Pridnestrovie turns to the topic of Bredov`s campaign for the second time. On February 12 of this year, on the day of the centenary of the end of the Civil War on the territory of the modern Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, which was precisely of Bredov's exodus from Tiraspol and Kotovtsy`s entry into the city, an original envelope dedicated to this historical date was presented. At the same time, two memorial plaques were opened both in memory of Bredovtsy and Kotovtsy in the Pridnestrovian capital.
Next month it is planned to hold special cancellation of a postage miniature dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Union of Writers of Pridnestrovie. Among the issues that Mark of Pridnestrovie outlined for the near future, there are the 25th anniversary of the PMR Constitution, the 250th anniversary of the capture of the Bendery Fortress by Russian troops, as well as anniversaries of scientist Ilya Mechnikov, generals Mikhail Kutuzov and Alexander Vasilevsky, Decembrist Vladimir Raevsky, poet Sergei Yesenin`s birth named by Vsevolod Lavrentiev in an interview with the media. The space series will also continue. There are plans to create stamps dedicated to the cosmonauts who served at different times in Tiraspol, as well as the 60th anniversary of Belka and Strelka`s trip in space.
