Recently, the Office of the Republic of Moldova’s political representative has launched a real information campaign against Pridnestrovie. The Moldovan Government website almost daily publishes press releases with various accusations against the PMR. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pridnestrovie has already commented on these ''information attacks''. The day before, Moldova’s representative office on political issues has reported some ''incidents'' and ''violations'' in the Security Zone. In particular, Chisinau is outraged by the "additional checkpoints of the Pridnestrovian side." Novosti Pridnestrovya News Agency contacted the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR to get clarifications.
Moldova’s representative on political issues Cristina Lesnic regularly has ''hysterics'' about the installation of the additional border posts on Pridnestrovian side of the Security Zone. Can they really pose any danger to the RM?
As it is well known, the vast majority of the countries have taken measures to limit the border crossing regime in the face of the pandemic. Pridnestrovie is not an exception.
The activity of Pridnestrovie mobile units on the border with Moldova is caused by the need to ensure proper control over the implementation of the quarantine measures and has the main goal - to protect the life and health of people. Such a special mode of work is based on the international recommendations, effective practice, as well as Pridnestrovian legislation.
Pridnestrovian mobile units operate on their legitimate territory. They carry out an important mission to prevent uncontrolled movement of people outside the checkpoints established for this purpose. Such an attitude helps people to approach the interests of their personal health and to care about the health of people closest to them more responsibly. Quarantine mechanism is clearly adjusted at all operating Pridnestrovian checkpoints. Thermometry and express tests on COVID-19 are carried out. It helps to identify potential patients and make a decision to provide the medical care quickly. In fact, today's sanitary and epidemiological functionality of the checkpoint on the border largely helps doctors to save lives.
Only the absence of conscience and sanity can explain the fact Moldova denies the medical purpose of the existing restrictions applied throughout the world, including in Moldova itself. Moreover, Moldova itself not only quarantines entire settlements, but even restricts movement within cities and seedlings. At the same time, however, some representatives of the neighboring state voice hypocritical protests, denying Pridnestrovie a similar right to protect the health of its own citizens.
It is obvious, that such a position of Moldovan official Cristina Lesnic is ridiculous. It is built on double standards. Such primitive imitation actions to invent problems from nothing create additional tension in the settlement process and discredit Chisinau as a stable and responsible participant in the negotiation process. In fact, Cristina Lesnic, representing the Moldovan side in the negotiations, is trying to impose on other international participants of the 5 + 2 format an artificial conflict and scandal agenda instead of meaningful negotiating work. It has no viable prospects. It is quite natural that for this reason, such an agenda is not interesting to anyone except Chisinau. It seems that international partners understand this well.
How can we explain the situation when the political representative of the Republic of Moldova, who signed several constructive agreements with Pridnestrovie in 2018, has now changed her approaches so dramatically?
Regular speculation of the political representative of the RM Cristina Lesnic around the topic of checkpoints is essentially inhuman. Moldovan politicians standing behind this official, pushing him to such obvious inadequate behavior, should think about the future. No one can manipulate human lives in their opportunistic political games, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Pridnestrovian side, as always, will adhere to the principle that under all circumstances the lives of people will remain the top priority.
At the same time, in the official press releases of the Moldovan side there is an attempt to link the activities of Pridnestrovian border guards to the issues of peacekeeping on the Dniester.
It is important to understand that Chisinau's demands for a special citizens movement regime in the Security Zone are unfounded in terms of earlier negotiation process agreements. The thesis of completely uncontrolled ''freedom'' of movement in the Security Zone is completely invented by the Moldovan side and is not recorded in such a form in any agreement of the settlement process.
Various protocol decisions include ''freedom of movement of the population along international transport corridors'', removal of ''barriers to free movement of the population from both banks of the Dniester, including officials of the parties'', ''importance of ensuring transport ties between Moldova and Pridnestrovie'', etc. As it is known, all these obligations have been cynically violated by the Moldovan side for many years to this day, showing the true attitude of Chisinau towards both freedom of movement and people themselves.
