The President held meeting on the organization of exams in secondary and higher education

The Ministry of Education of Pridnestrovie and the heads of universities on behalf of the President are working on a mechanism for applicants to pass entrance and final exams. Today, the President was informed about the developments. The Chairman of the PMR Government Alexander Martynov spoke during the video conference on the preparation of guidelines for organizing reception and graduation companies, as well as conducting inter-course certification in certain disciplines. Representatives of the relevant ministry and heads of higher and secondary specialized educational institutions were involved in their development. The conceptual proposal is as follows: several examination forms are approved, from which each educational institution selects the most appropriate based on the specificity and degree of technical equipment of the educational institution.

Regarding the admission campaigns: applicants are invited to accept applications remotely in electronic form; entrance examinations in non-core subjects to cancel; in the absence of competition, to enroll in an educational institution on the basis of final school grades, if there is one, as well as in case of paid tuition, to test remotely and in a simplified manner, based inter alia on the grades in the certificate of secondary education. The deadlines for holding an admission campaign are considered reasonable to be delimited by August. So far, two possible periods are being considered: the traditional one, when the database of applicants begins to be formed from June 15, and the “quarantine”, which starts on July 12.

Graduation exams and diploma defense are also proposed to be conducted online, possibly in the form of a remote interview. An alternative is grades.

It seems reasonable to take final grades as a basis based on the results of current academic performance (instead of conducting exam tests) in the case of non-graduate students. The President proposed at one time to take the path that has already been approved for schoolchildren. The Ministry of Education and the teaching staff of educational institutions supported this position.

Work on guidelines continues. The Council of Rectors will convene in the near future. The final version of the legal document should be submitted to the President for approval by May 20.
