PSU students wrote Letters of Victory

The action has been taking place in the territory of Pridnestrovie for a few weeks now

Tiraspol, February 18. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. In Pridnestrovie, there is ongoing the Letter of Victory campaign. This year, the republic joined the eponymous All-Russian action launched 5 years ago for the first time. Its purpose and idea is to connect the generations of veterans and youth with memory of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, to recall the significance of this event for those currently living.

“Each participant receives two forms. In one of them you need to tell about yourself, your hobbies, about who were your relatives who participated in the Great Patriotic War, and what you did to preserve their memory. In the second form you need to write greetings to the Second World War veteran on your choice, either Birthday, Defender of the Fatherland Day, International Women's Day or Victory Day,” coordinator of the public movement “Victory Volunteers. Pridnestrovie”, Yevgeny Nazarenko explained.

Today, students of the Pridnestrovian State University became participants of the action. Representatives of various faculties came together to express their wishes to veterans.

“I deeply respect people who were not afraid to sacrifice themselves for the common good. It is the first time that I have come to this action. I will write about my attitude to the Victory and, of course, about my grandmother, who lived through the years of war. This is a terrible time. On her life`s story, I understand how important it is to remember the feat of such people,” Angelina, student of the philological faculty said.

“I am here for the first time, and I’ll try to cover the topic. Those who fought in my family are no longer alive, and I did not have time to catch their stories. But I watched a lot of films about the Great Patriotic War, for instance, “Kursk Bulge”, and I read books, so I know what I’ll write about,” future lawyer Yevgeny added.

Pridnestrovie began to write Letters of Victory since February 3. The action has already been held for schoolchildren in Tiraspol and Dnestrovsk, the youth of Kamenka and Rybnitsa, as well as students of the Bendery branch of PSU. There have been 175 messages collected at this stage. The process will last until the beginning of March. Each of the messages is drawn up in a separate envelope, which will reach its addressee on one of the holidays.

“All letters (and there are a lot of exciting and sincere words) will be handed over to our veterans of the Great Patriotic War. We have already made a list in Tiraspol, we are phoning them, we find out who wants and can meet with us. We’ll go visit them to wish a happy Defender of the Fatherland Day,” Yevgeny Nazarenko says.
