Everyone can send information about veterans to the editorial staff

Tiraspol, December 17. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, on behalf of the President of the PMR, a Book of Memory is being written about the Pridnestrovians who fought on its fronts. Now the Presidential Administration together with the state administrations of cities and regions collects and processes information. Also, work is underway on a book layout under the working title "Pridnestrovian Heroes of the Great Patriotic War."

Anna Volkova, State Advisor to the President of the PMR, noted that the recollections of the participants of the Great Patriotic War were an invaluable historical source.

“Our today's task is to collect as much information as possible about those who participated in the Great Patriotic War, about the Heroes of the Soviet Union. A separate chapter will be devoted to the natives of Pridnestrovie, those who fought here, liberating us, those who lived and were laid to rest in Pridnestrovie,” Volkova shared.

Students are also planning to attract information to the collection of information. They were invited to write biographical works about their relatives and friends who defended their homeland during the Great Patriotic War.

According to the head of the department, for work with the public, religious associations and cults, Alexander Berezovsky, a systematic collection of information about the defenders of the fatherland began back in 2009. To date, the collected archive contains information about more than 11.5 thousand participants in the war.

Alexander Berezovsky noted that the work couldn’t be fully completed by the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory, it would continue for more than one year. In his opinion, this is due to the fact that the number of those affected by the war is huge, so it will take a lot of time to collect information and process it.

“We must think about future generations who will not have the opportunity to communicate with participants and heroes of the war. Therefore, they must be remembered,” Berezovsky emphasized.

Until February 1, 2020, anyone can send the information about the veterans among their relatives or acquaintances, including their front-line photographs, copies of documents, descriptions of life, work and battle routs. Materials marked "Victory Name" can be sent to the address: Tiraspol, 187 Karl Marx street. Or email: imya-pobedy@mail.ru.
