Heroes were honored in Tiraspol

Participants of the Volunteers of Victoryorganization joined the All-Russian action

Tiraspol, December 9. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Heroes Day was held in Tiraspol. Such action is origin from Russia. On this day, in Russia young people go outside – on the streets, squares named after the Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia. They hand out leaflets in the form of front letter with information about the hero after whom this place is named to people.

In Tiraspol, participants of the public organization Volunteers of Victory handed out leaflets to passers-by with information about the Hero of the USSR, the veteran of the Great Patriotic War, the Honorary Citizen of Tiraspol, tank man, Vladimir Alexandrovich Bochkovsky.

“The date was chosen not by chance. Catherine II established Russian highest military award St. George Order on 9 December 1769. Today's action we carry out under the slogan “Common fatherland – common heroes”. Such decision was made because the history of Pridnestrovie has been inextricably connected with the history of Russia,” the coordinator of Volunteers of Victory in the PMR Eugene Nazarenko told.

“It is a new action for us. Pridnestrovian Volunteers of Victory carry out it for the first time. I'm sure it'll be annual. After all, thanks to such heroes of the fatherland as Vladimir Bochkovsky, we live in peace and harmony,” Alexander Tolochenko, a participant of the Volunteers of Victory movement said.

The action took place in the Bochkovsky Alley, near the house where he was born and lived, and at the school where he studied. Vladimir Bochkovsky participated in fights in the Kursk battle, freed Ukraine, Czechoslovakia, Poland. He was also among those who stormed Berlin. Just in one battle for the Cherchkov City (Ternopil region), he destroyed 7 tanks, 2 armored personnel carriers, 9 guns, 50 vehicles and up to 150 enemy soldiers and officers. The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded in April 1944.

In the war, he received six wounds, burned in a tank for five times. According to official data, he destroyed 36 tanks and self-propelled guns of the enemy. It made him the second most effective tanker of the Red Army during the Great patriotic war.

“We cannot forget people like Bochkovsky. When I studied in the 10 forms, l took part in the republican action Heroes of the native region. I have written an essay about Vladimir Bochkovsky's feats. I took second place. And today, it is a great honor for me to be a volunteer of the All-Russian action in Pridnestrovie and to tell about our fellow citizen,” Volunteer of Victory Marina Woziyan noted.

As part of the action in Tiraspol, activists distributed more than a hundred leaflets-triangles.
