Tiraspol, November 1. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Today, the office of the OSCE Mission in Tiraspol hosted a meeting of expert (working) groups on economic issues. It took place on the initiative of the Pridnestrovian side, the press service of the MFA of PMR reports.
During the meeting, experts of the parties initialed the Protocol decision on cooperation in the field of elimination of technical barriers to trade and protection of consumer rights. The agreement is expected to be signed by the political representatives as soon as possible.
In the light of the plans of Moldova and Ukraine to launch the so-called second phase of joint customs and border control at the Kuchurhan crossing point the parties discussed the import of various categories of goods in Pridnestrovie. Some progress was noted in agreeing on a mechanism for importing seeds and planting material. At the same time, the Pridnestrovian side drew attention to a significant number of categories of imported goods and cargo, including medicines, on which the parties failed to reach mutual understanding.
At the same time, the meeting touched upon issues related to freight railway service, purchase of certain sub-excise goods, as well as the export of non-ferrous metals from Pridnestrovie.
The parties discussed the current problems that individual Pridnestrovian enterprises face in their foreign economic activity and agreed to continue work on reducing the existing administrative and other barriers in the interests of international trade development.
It is expected that discussions on some aspects of the current agenda would continue on the informal conference on confidence-building measures in Bavaria, the Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry stressed.
