Dmitry Kuzuk won silver in the international marathon among para-athletes

The competition was attended by over 18 thousand people, including people with disabilities

Tiraspol, September, 30. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The day before, the Fifth International Marathon was held in Chisinau.

Runners and professional athletes from Moldova and 50 foreign countries participated in it. In total, there were more than 18 thousand marathon runners. They competed in 4 selected distances: 5 km, 10 km, 21 and 42 km (marathon).

A start was also announced for wheelchair athletes and their assistants who competed in the category Marathon for everyone.

The public organization Sporter was the organizer of the grand sport event.

At the international race Pridnestrovie was represented by athletes from Tiraspol, Bendery and Dubossary.

Among people with disabilities, para-athletes from the capital clubs and the Bendery Adaptive Sports Center “INVAPANSPORT” participated in the marathon. Thus, Tiraspol athletes competed at a 10 km distance. Followed closely, they lost to the more experienced Ukrainian and Romanian athletes in this sport, without eventually winning prizes.

The Bendery Center representative Dmitry Kuzuk went a 21 km. At first, he was the leader among his competitors but Ukrainian athletes skillfully pacing themselves were able to have his way with him. As a result almost two hours of struggle our marathon runner reached the finish line second and won silver.

“This marathon became for me another unforgettable experience in overcoming my fears and insecurities. This was my first time participating in wheelchair racing, it was not an easy task to “run” this distance. This was a very difficult and huge work at full capacity. There were times when my hands refused to obey, especially on highnesses, but I told myself that I could do it, and I did,” Dmitry Kuzuk shared his impressions.

Para-athlete from Bendery covered the distance in 1 hour 56 minutes.
