Tiraspol, September, 19. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. A meeting of the President of the PMR with the OSCE mission delegation led by OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger is being held at the Official Reception House. The Pridnestrovian side, in addition to the head of state, is represented by the PMR Government Chairman Alexander Martynov and Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev.
As part of the OSCE delegation, Klaus Neukirch - head of the OSCE mission in Moldova - and Dushan Daho - Ambassador of Slovakia, chairing the organization this year.
The main purpose of the meeting is to discuss the problems of the negotiation process on the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement and to search for possible solutions.
Vadim Krasnoselski emphasized that dialogue with the OSCE mission was very important for Pridnestrovie, especially in terms of efforts to normalize relations between the PMR and Moldova.
“Separately, I would like to emphasize the Slovak representation, through which we manage to maintain the dialogue at the proper level,” the PMR President said, emphasizing that the republic welcomed the desire of the European organization to resolve humanitarian and economic issues.
“The OSCE is an important participant in the “5 + 2” format, and your opinion on any issues that are considered in this format is very important and relevant for us,” Vadim Krasnoselski said, welcoming the guests.
In turn, the OSCE Secretary General expressed the hope that European participation would help to advance the negotiation process.
“Now we are at a very important stage in the process of negotiations in the “5 + 2” format, I think that our communication will be very timely and important,” he said.
Meanwhile, as the President of the PMR emphasized, the negotiation process was now in a stage of some kind of slowdown. If in 2018 there were 29 meetings of political representatives, then in the current, there are only two so far. There is no previous activity at the level of expert (working) groups either: there were 85 meetings held in 2018 and 16 ones in 2019.
Vadim Krasnoselski noted that in the previous two years, solutions had been found to long-standing problems related to the functioning of schools with teaching in Latin scripts in the Pridnestrovian region, land use in the Dubossary district, license plates for vehicles, and post-graduation diplomas of Pridnestrovian universities.
Today, attempts are being made to close the issues of telecommunications, free movement, politically motivated criminal cases.
Vadim Krasnoselski said that the initiator of solving the existing problems was the Pridnestrovian side, it was also the responsible executor of the agreements, which could not be said about Moldova.
“I can say with certainty that, unfortunately, this process has slowed down ... From the Moldovan side, the issue of telecommunications and political criminal cases has not yet been completely resolved. Also, the issues of citizens free movement of Pridnestrovie were not fully resolved. This is confirmed by the meetings that have recently begun to be held much less frequently,” the head of state emphasized.
Vadim Krasnoselski informed the OSCE Secretary General that for some reason, the Moldovan side was creating new obstacles to the settlement of the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian conflict.
