Tiraspol, September, 3. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Sport in Pridnestrovie has reached a new level. For the first time in the history of the republic, we have the School of Olympic Reserve. It was opened in the capital at the base of school number 4. The ceremony was attended by top officials of the state, the leadership of several ministries, the head of the capital’s state administration, students of the school, their parents and teachers.
PMR President Vadim Krasnoselski noted the high level of sports achievements of Pridnestrovians and the desire for the further development of professional sports. According to him, this showed the need to open a specialized institution in the republic, where appropriate conditions would be created for children who want to devote their lives to sports.
“You should go in for sports, toughen your character. The practice shows that when a young man succeeds in sports, he succeeds in life. At a young age he brings up a leader in himself, strives to be the first, works on himself, gets hurt, it is so difficult for him, but he moves forward. He creates himself,” the head of state addressed the pupils of the school.
This educational institution includes 12 sports. Among them are rowing, athletics, boxing, cycling, handball and others. In total, according to the Director of the Olympic Reserve School Gennady Narivonchik, about 300 children are planned to study at the school - but this is at the stages of the second and third year of study.
Education in the school is divided into 2 levels. The first is studying from grades 5 to 9 according to an enhanced curriculum. After this, the children will receive a certificate of incomplete secondary education. And then there they can continue their studies and receive secondary vocational education. The director of the School of Olympic Reserve noted that in the end the children would have a diploma of a trainer and teacher and the opportunity to work in their specialty.
“This year, 119 people will study in the first stage, and in the second - 19. The school’s work system involves the recruitment, selection and transfer of leading athletes to the next stage. In grades 5 and 6, we accept Tiraspol residents and residents of nearby settlements. But according to the charter of the school, nonresident children will also be able to study here from the seventh grade,” Gennady Narivonchik said.
In the curriculum, in addition to school disciplines, there are theoretical classes and practical training in ten sports areas. For athletes, five meals a day, a medical unit and accommodation are provided.
Among the main preferences of the school is the opportunity to qualify for free tuition for the 2nd year of the Faculty of PSU Physical Culture and Sports. This was noted by the head of the State Sports Service of the PMR Vyacheslav Sokolenko.
“The study will be interesting, not the same as in ordinary schools. The daily routine will begin with training, then classes, lunch, classes again and evening training,” the head of the department said.
Approximately the same system is used to build training at the Moscow School of the Olympic Reserve, in which the Pridnestrovian Danil Vetrov is studying. The athlete is a pupil of the Pridnestrovian rowing school. At the age of 16, he is already a multiple winner and winner of world and European championships. He says that such a school in our republic will allow to raise new highly qualified athletes.
“Here, the attitude to study will be a little different. Teachers will be able to make concessions at some points. Because after training, when you come tired, sometimes you don’t have time to study. And here they will appreciate the athletes` position,” Danil Vetrov emphasized.
