JAVELINS FROM TIRASPOL RISE TO THE ZNAMENSKY BROTHERS MEMORIAL PEDESTAL

Dmitry Tarabin and Nikolay Orlov took part in a major Russian tournament

Tiraspol, July, 7. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. All-Russian athletics competitions Znamensky Brothers Memorial ended today in Zhukovsky near Moscow. The tournament was attended by leading athletes of Russia: the winners and medalists of the Olympic Games, world championships, Europe and Russia. Among them there were two pupils of the Tiraspol sports school №2: the bronze medalist of the 2013 World Championships Dmitry Tarabin and the multiple medalist of the Russian championship Nikolay Orlov.

Dmitry Tarabin threw a spear at 85 m 25 cm and headed the Russian rating. All his attempts were over 80 meters. The athlete completed the qualifying standard for the Olympic Games. Now Tarabin is waiting for a reaction from the International Association of Athletics Federations to his request for granting him neutral status.

Nikolay Orlov improved his personal achievement, taking the 2nd place with the result of 76 m 24 cm. He, too, was distinguished by stability, all his attempts were over 70 meters. 20-year-old Nikolay Orlov is the youngest in the eight of the strongest javelin throwers in Russia. He has already received neutrality and will go to Sweden for the European Junior Championship in a week.

Denis Pikus from Tiraspol, who plays for Moldova, will join him.

This year, the Znamensky Brothers Memorial was held for the 61st time. This is one of the largest tournaments in Russia. Competitions are dedicated to the memory of the outstanding Soviet athletes George and Seraphim Znamensky. The brothers set 24 USSR records in a long distance running.
