Bendery, June 18. / Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The delegation from Hungary visited the Military and Historical Memorial Complex where were buried 328 Hungarians who died in the Great Patriotic War, the press service of the Bendery state administration reports.
When the information on this burial appeared, the pridnestrovian authorities addressed to the Embassy of Hungary. All names and dates were established, and on the Memorial the well-groomed Hungarian sector – 12 black plates with Catholic crosses – appeared. Then it became clear that most of the Hungarian soldiers were from the Hajdúnánás.
«We have such sacred duty – to keep the memory of the ancestors, for this purpose we arrived here. At the same time, we want to build friendly relations between our cities. And I really hope that in the near future we will sign the agreement on twinning, and this trip will help to come into close contacts», - the Hajdúnánás mayor Solat Tibor noted.
By Catholic tradition, the mass on the dead was carried out. The Memorial was decorated with ribbons of the Hungarian flag colors and the symbolical straw wreath.
Hajdúnánás is called the homeland of «gold straw». It is famous all over the country for the production of straw hats and other products from this material. The city is also popular among tourists thanks to the medical thermal sources.
«The city authorities exist to solve the problems of people. It will be useful for us to exchange experience and to continue to work for the good of our citizens. It is sure that respect for history, traditions will be the basis of our close interaction. I think, we will interact in different spheres», - Roman Ivanchenko concluded after signing of the document.
The Hungarian city mayor invited Roman Ivanchenko on December 12 in Hajdúnánás to sign the twinning agreement.
Besides Military and Historical Memorial Complex, the delegation visited the main Bendery attractions: museums, art gallery and Fortress. The meeting continued in the state administration where the Intention Protocol on the Twinning Contract between Bendery and Hajdúnánás was signed.
