There are photographs, documents, samples of firearms and objects of soldiers` household items during the Great Patriotic War

Tiraspol, May, 29. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Ministry of State Security held events dedicated to the 101st anniversary of the USSR Border Troops Formation.

In honor of the holiday there was held ceremonial parade in the border department of the MGB. The best servicemen were awarded with Green Berets.

The opening of the Military Glory Room of the Border Troops was also timed to the memorable date. As was noted during the ceremony, it will be a historical reminder to the current generation of border guards about the exploits of military personnel who defended the frontiers during the Great Patriotic War.

As reported on the Ministry of State Security website, the border guards collected exhibits to decorate the room on their own. They were assisted by the current employees of the Ministry and close relatives of the servicemen of the 25th Moldavian Border Detachment.

The events of the Great Patriotic War are reflected in photographs, documents, samples of firearms and soldiers` household items. The reminder of the war, which claimed tens of millions of lives, is also conveyed by the shells` fragments, machine guns and a German helmet presented in the exposition.

On this day, the first President of the PMR, Igor Smirnov, the leadership and the veterans of the department became the visitors of the Military Glory Room.

As noted in the Border Department, the work on the exhibition will continue. The collection is planned to be expanded and supplemented with modern samples.

A bright conclusion of the events dedicated to the Day of the Border Guard was a military-sports festival, during which the soldiers showed the guests not only their physical strength, but also the ability to work well together as a team.

In 1918, Bessarabia was occupied by Romania and the border with the Soviet Union actually passed along the Dniester River. In 1925, the 25th Moldavian Infantry Border Detachment was formed, which guarded a section of the border with a length of about 250 kilometers. These included 5 commandant's offices located in Grigoriopol, Tokmazeya, Parkani, Slobodzeya and Korotnoye.
