TWO PRIDNESTROVIAN ATHLETES WILL TAKE PART IN THE WORLD UNIVERSITY GAMES

Two swimmers will also perform at the European Youth Olympic Festival

Tiraspol, May, 13. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Moldavian national teams are being formed according to the results of the Open Championship of Romania and the youth Balkaniada. Tiraspol team participated in both competitions.

The Romanian Open Championship in Bucharest gathered swimmers from 6 countries: Romania, Portugal, Georgia, Lithuania, Slovakia and Moldova.

Tatyana Salkutsan from the Pridnestrovian State University won gold medals at a distance of 100 and 200 meters at the back, and she won silver at the 50-meter distance. She was acknowledged as the best athlete of the tournament. At the 200-meter, Tatiana Salkutsan scored the highest amount of points in the FINA table - 817. Tatiana Kishka from Balti took second place. She distinguished herself in swimming breaststroke.

Anastasia Moshchenskaya, a student at the Tiraspol Technical School of Informatics and Law, was third in the 200m breaststroke distance.

Tatiana Salkutsan and Anastasia Moshchenskaya will be part of the Moldavian national team at the Universiade in Italy.

Tiraspol athletes performed well among juniors under 18 years old. Denis Shvets won all distances with breaststroke. Alexey Ostrovsky took IV place on the 200-meter butterfly stroke, having fulfilled the standard of the master of sports. Alexey Dobrovolsky showed the 5th result at a distance of 1500 m freestyle.

Alexey Dobrovolsky and Denis Shvets were selected for the European Youth Olympic Festival. It will be held in Baku at the end of July.

Athletes took 3 medals in the swimming relay race. In the combined women's relay they set a national record for Moldova. The team consisted of Tatiana Salkutsan, Anastasia Moshchenskaya, Alina Matrenitskaya and Tatiana Kishka.

The youth championship of the Balkan countries was held in Kavala (Greece) with the participation of teams from 11 countries. Alexander Deineko and Alexander Sevastyanov did not get any medals, but they brought points to the team.
