MMP STARTED TO OPERATE AFTER MODERNIZATION

The new equipment will ensure the safety and stability of technology, improve the quality of raw materials and reduce energy costs

Rybnitsa, April, 12. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Moldavian Metallurgical Plant started to operate a new way. There has been technological down time for two weeks: the new equipment was being installed in the electric steel-smelting shop. The First Pridnestrovian channel reports that it would improve product quality and reduce cost.

Traverse was replaced in the workshop. Equipment was brought from Russia. It was mounted on MMP by their own strength.

“Traverse is the main load-bearing element carrying the weight of the steel-bucket and the smelting of liquid metal, therefore this equipment reliability directly affects the safety and stability of the technology. The equipment provides a number of promising areas for development opportunities. In the future, we will be able to ensure continuous weighing of steel during the casting process and much more,” the head of the MMP repair department, Peter Shestopal explained.

In the plant, this is one of the most ambitious upgrades in recent years. So, Italian scissors are already being used in the complex scrap processing department. Chinese press waste grinder and a baling press are also waiting for the installation. At MMP, they noted that all that would improve product quality and reduce costs. For example, there will be less power consumption — about 15 kilowatts per hour. Thanks to the entire complex, it will be possible to process about 600 tons of scrap per day.

Already today, they set new goals at the Moldavian Metallurgical Plant: this year they intend to produce at least 0.5 million tons of steel, that is, at least to exceed the figures for 2018.
