Bendery, April, 9. / Novosti Pridnestrovya/. One more showroom and also big gift shop can appear on an entrance to the historical military memorial complex «Bendery Fortress».
It is supposed that they will accommodate in a construction which was unfairly used under economic and warehouse needs from the Soviet period. Meanwhile, this building has a century history and strategic importance. Built during the Crimean war, it hid the gallery connecting an external entrance to the Fortress at a multimeter ditch and the internal territory.
«This construction presumably was built in the second half of the 19th century during the large-scale reconstruction of the Bendery Fortress when Russia urgently strengthened new southern borders. These gates were designed in order that the Russian troops could leave conveniently in a ditch and protect it from enemies», - the chief specialist of the Archival and historical office of the Bendery Fortress Alexander Bulgakov tells.
Very soon the building will become a part of a historical complex. The concept of its use is now studied. Besides trade and exhibition halls the management of the Fortress plans to restore also gallery – «gate» in a ditch and also to open the site of an external bypass ditch of the Fortress for visit by tourists and citizens.
But it is only planned because now all efforts and attention are given to gardening and improvement of the Alexander Nevsky's Park. Its territory was already decorated by more than one thousand trees and bushes. In the past weekend within the voluntary work day the hibiscus, barberry and other plants were landed here. Now the Park Economy of Bendery tremblingly looks after plants and prepares the historical complex changing day by day for the arrival of new guests.
Last year the Bendery Fortress was visited by more than 100 thousand tourists. There are planned musical, youth, children's, orthodox festivals. The next festivities – easter – will take place on April 29.
For the Pridnestrovians and guests of the republic thematic zones, trade fairs of craft products and also performances of on-stage performance groups of the republic are prepared.
