IN 2018, PRIDNESTROVIE`S GDP GREW BY 3.6%

Tiraspol, April, 9. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Last year, Pridnestrovian GDP amounted to 13.8 billion rubles, an increase of 12.5% in nominal terms and 3.6% in real terms. These data were announced at the PMR Ministry of Economic Development extended board meeting. 

In the structure of GDP, industry accounted for 31.8%, non-market services accounted for 23.9%, trade accounts for 14.5%, while agriculture exceeds 8%, transport and communications provide more than 5%. 

“Buildup of the newly created value in the industrial complex and the intensification of investment activity were the factors of economic growth,” Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development Sergey Obolonik said. 

Last year, the volume of industrial production in large enterprises grew by 36.4% in current and by 8.5% in comparable prices, exceeding 13 billion rubles. At the same time, the positive dynamics in output was noted in almost all key sub-sectors of the industry. 

“In general, the value of exports grew by 30% and reached 697 million dollars. Imports grew by 23.6% to $ 1 billion 200 million. Foreign trade turnover grew by 26% and exceeded $ 1 billion 900 million,” Sergey Obolonik said. 

Exports of metals (in monetary terms) grew by 31%, fuel and energy products - by 12%, food - by 70%, mineral products - by 3.8 times. 

The main export directions are Moldova (30%), Ukraine (20.4%), Romania (15.5%), Poland (10.8%), Russia (10.3%), and Italy (about 4%). 

At the same time, a significant share of import supplies accounted for the Russian Federation (40%), Ukraine (23%), and Moldova (10%).
