Tiraspol, April, 3. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Unity Day is a holiday that symbolizes strong historical ties and common interests of fraternal peoples. This year marks 23 years since signing of the agreement on the creation of Belarus and Russia community. Pridnestrovie is a unique example of friendship, good-neighborly relations and mutual penetration of cultures.
“We all keep everything peaceful, and therefore we believe that the celebration of the unity of Russia and Belarus is also close to us,” the Chairman of the Union of Russian Communities of Pridnestrovie, Viorika Kokhtareva said.
There are 72 nationalities in our republic. It is very important that the peoples’ desire to live together and work together remains to this day. This year, the Union of Russian Communities together with the society of Belarusian culture decided to celebrate the Unity Day of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia.
“There is a very large Russian community in Pridnestrovie, a huge number of citizens of the Russian Federation. The Belarusian community lives its special and distinctive life. Therefore, we could not pass by the initiative of the two communities - Russian and Belarusian, which are also united by related cultures. We are very happy that Pridnestrovians not only know this holiday, but remember and celebrate it,” the representative of Rossotrudnichestvo Nikolay Zhuravlev said.
The Belarusian community in Tiraspol has about 500 people. All of them are citizens of the Republic of Belarus. Like other communities in Pridnestrovie, the Belarusian one leads an active social life. Various events are held: traditional national holidays, New Year, Maslenitsa and many others.
“Particular attention should be given to Efrosinya Polotskaya day of remembrance - this is the first woman canonized saint. We invite a priest, and hold a prayer service,” Tamara Lomteva, Chairman of the Society of Belarusian Culture in Pridnestrovie shared.
There is Belarusian school, which children can attend in their free time, open in the community at the weekend.
The goal of the school, as Tamara Lomteva points out, is not necessarily to teach to read and write, but to make children understand the Belarusian language and be able to respond in it. In addition, the community helps to solve various issues. For example, entering of graduates of Pridnestrovian schools the Belarusian universities.
The Pridnestrovian Society of Belarusian Culture closely cooperates with the community of Belarusians in Moldova. They visit each other for holidays, and also conduct joint events. Today the vocal ensemble of the Belarusian community in Moldova Zorachki arrived in Pridnestrovie to extend their congratulations.
Students of the Institute of Arts, the senior choir of the Bendery School of Art, the Pridnestrovian State Choir, the vocal ensembles Darovanie (Tiraspol) and Dobrynya (Bendery) delighted guests with their creative works.
