Tiraspol, April, 1. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. From March 28 to March 31, a series of official competitions (national and international) on orienteering was held in Ukrainian Truskavets. Ukrainian Championship defined the winners in all age groups.
The Championship of Ukraine among veterans was being held simultaneously. Pridnestrovians, as well as orienteers from foreign countries took part in it. In the oldest age group there were athletes of up to 80 years old.
Competitions for the middle and long distance in the group Elita were the world ranked. They come in the International Orienteering Federation formal calendar.
Ivan Fomichev, Master of Sports from Kitskany, coach of the Tiraspol sports school of rowing and sport shooting, took fifth place in a middle distance. In the long distance, he took sixth place, Vasily Fomichev took tenth place.
60 people were competing in this group. More than 20 participants are Masters of Sports of Ukraine. There were also foreign orienteers. The race track went in a hilly area. The soil is clay, sometimes swampy.
Anatoly Fomichev took 9th place in the shortened distance in the Championship of Ukraine. Fomichev brothers as members of the Moldavian national team will take part in a number of international tournaments this season. They train at Tiras-Orient SC.
Young orienteers competed well in the Ukrainian Championship. In some groups, the number of participants exceeded 80 people. In the long distance, three Pridnestrovians appeared to be among the top ten. Yaroslav Davydov from Bendery, competing in a group of up to 16 years, was 20 seconds away from reaching the bronze medal. He took fourth place. Yulia Eremenko took sixth place, Victoria Nosenko took seventh place.
Jaroslav Davydov and Nikita Yurikin have already been selected for the Moldavian national team. The girls have yet to be selected, but they have already fulfilled the required speed standards.
