Tiraspol, March, 16. / Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Vadim Krasnoselsky determined new memorial by the presidential decree – the Day of a National Militia of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. Annually it will be celebrated on March 17. The Head of the state signed the document today.
The date is founded, considering merits of a national militia, courage and heroism of soldiers rebels shown at protection of independence, the sovereignty of the republic, the rights and freedoms of citizens of Pridnestrovie.
The Present Decree comes into force from the date of signing.
The national militia was created on March 17, 1992, also by the Presidential Decree. During the armed aggression of Moldova, rebels were one of the first who rose in defence of Pridnestrovie. It was the volunteers exempted from the active military service and working groups from the enterprises. There were a lot of women there. In total in the lists of rebels, there are more than 10 thousand people.
