Tiraspol, February, 11. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Swimmers from Tiraspol got into the adult and junior teams of the Republic of Moldova. The selection of athletes in national teams is being held by FINA rating. The best of them will take part in training camps to prepare for further qualifying tournaments.
The first stage of the selection for the national team was held at the Moldova Winter Swimming Championship. The pool of SC Sheriff hosted the competitions. 220 athletes from Pridnestrovie, Moldova, as well as guests from Ukraine and Italy were on track.
Our athletes faced the challenge of fulfilling the established qualification standards for participation in the main starts of the year.
Tatiana Salkutsan (backstroke distance) and Anastasia Moshchenskaya (breaststroke distance) will take part in the selection for the European and World Championships, the World Universiade, and the Olympic Games. Tatiana Salkutsan made it to the national team without selection, since she`d already fulfilled the required standards for those starts. It is important for her to comply with the standard A (higher than B) for participation in the Olympics in Tokyo.
Alexander Deineko (200 m freestyle), Denis Shvets (200 m breaststroke), Alexei Dobrovolsky (freestyle distance) and Ekaterina Makovei (400 m in complex swimming) got into the junior team following the results of the championship of the Moldova Republic. Alexandra Deineko will perform in the Youth Championship of the Balkan Countries and will try to fulfill the standard for the Europe Youth Championship.
The rest of swimmers from Tiraspol will have to comply with the standards for the European Youth Olympic Festival. It is being held every two years.
