PRIDNESTROVIAN TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES WILL TAKE PART IN BALKAN COUNTRIES CHAMPIONSHIP

Four out of five Pridnestrovian athletes compete in juniors

Tiraspol, February, 5. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. In February, two championships of the Balkan countries in athletics will be held in the Turkish city of Istanbul: February 10 - among juniors under 20 years old and February 16 - among adult athletes.

This year it is more difficult to get into the national team of Moldova. The Balkan Association of Athletics Federations had introduced qualification standards for both age groups for the first time in the history of the championships.

The standards could be fulfilled at the Championship of the Moldova Republic, which took place last weekend in Chisinau. 5 Pridnestrovians were able to show the corresponding results.

Anna Karamanutsa (triple jump) and Jana Garayev (60 meters hurdles) from Bendery, and Nikita Savitsky (triple jump) and Denis Cherney (400 meters distance) from Tiraspol got into the junior team.

Among the winners of junior championship of the Republic of Moldova there are also Tiraspol citizens Anna Bulat, Vladislav Tomak, Alexey Kulish, Tatyana Kontrebuts, Anastasia Bogachuk and Olga Shtyrba from Kamenka.

Only Vadim Doskalov from Bendery made his way into the adult national team of Moldova. He hit the requirement in broad jump (6 m 75 cm) and triple jump (15 m 18 cm).

The standard for the junior and adult Balkaniada was fulfilled by another 14-year-old Marina Yusumbele. Bendery citizen achieved excellent results in the triple jump - 12 m 51 cm, significantly higher than the required standard. All her attempts were over 12 meters. This is a desirable stability. But such young athletes as Marina Yusumbele are not allowed to Balkaniada.

Repeated winners from Moldova and regular participants of the championship among the Balkan countries Olesya Smovzhenko, Andrei Daranutsa and Nikolai Gorbushko did not reach the qualification standards. Nikolai Gorbushko was closer to the goal. At a distance of 3 km, he was a few tenths of a second away from the standard.

It should be noted that the strongest Pridnestrovian javelin throwers did not participate in competitions in Chisinau, as they are now at the training camp in Russia.
