JCC URGED INHABITANTS OF THE SAFETY ZONE TO HAND OVER WEAPON AND AMMUNITION VOLUNTARILY

The governing body of the peacekeeping operation distributed the corresponding address

Bendery, January, 24. / Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Within performance of the agreement on the principles of peaceful settlement law enforcement agencies carried out the package of measures for detection and withdrawal of illegally stored weapon and ammunition among the population. As a result, there was a significant reduction of the crimes committed with the use of firearms and explosives, and the facts of their plunder are not registered recently, it is told in the appeal of the Joint Control Commission.

At the same time, JCC still faces the facts of the ownerless or illegally stored weapons, ammunition and explosives in the Safety zone.

«For decrease in level of the possible heavy consequences connected with cases of an uncontrolled turn of arms in the Safety zone, JCC urges inhabitants to hand over illegally stored weapons, ammunition, explosives and other objects forbidden to civil circulation voluntarily to law enforcement agencies of the parties with assistance of Joint Peacekeeping Forces», - it is emphasized in the address.

The supervisory authority reminds that according to the current legislation, the persons who handles over the arms which are illegally stored voluntary are exempted from criminal, administrative and other responsibility.

«JCC hopes that realization of proposed measures will allow reducing significantly illicit trafficking of dangerous objects in the Safety zone and by that will render assistance to increase in the level of stability and trust of the parties», - it is noted in the document.
