THIS YEAR LAST JCC SESSION HAS BEEN BLOCKED BY MOLDOVA

Bendery, December, 27. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. At the next meeting of the peacekeeping operation governing body, they didn`t manage to adopt the agenda. The Moldovan side insisted on the inclusion in the agenda the issue of new mechanisms for monitoring the Security Zone. Other delegations did not support this proposal.

“The Moldovan delegation tried to put on the agenda the issue of a certain new monitoring of the situation in the Security Zone in case of complications. But, in the reports of the military, we regularly state that the situation is being  controlled, and that it is under JCC and the Joint Peacekeeping Forces control. Then why is this necessary?” - the head of the Pridnestrovian delegation, Oleg Belyakov asks.

In his opinion, this way the representatives of the Republic of Moldova are trying to change the mechanism of the current peacekeeping operation.

“If, within the framework of the JCC, we are offered new mechanisms for the peacekeeping operation, the Pridnestrovian side cannot support these formats. The Russian side also says that it is necessary to move according to the document of 1992 and some other mechanisms are still premature. Peace on the Dniester has been being preserved for 26 years thanks to the current format of the operation” - the co-chair stated.

At the same time, even outside the framework of the approved agenda, the parties were able to accept general congratulations on the New Year holidays addressed to the peacekeepers and residents of the Security Zone.

It was also decided on the JCC members` detour date to the peacekeeping posts. Detour will take place on December 30. They will congratulate peacekeepers serving in posts in the Central Section of the Security Zone.
