The Twentieth International Powerlifting Tournament for deadlift and bench press "The Cup OF the Dniester" brought together a record number of participants – more than 200 athletes from many cities of Pridnestrovie, Moldova, Ukraine and even two participants from Italy and Canada.
There was two days competition. Yesterday athletes showed the force in powerlifting and deadlift. Today there is the tournament on a bench press and also the Baker's dozen nominations when the athlete lifts the stated weight for 13 reps of 3 sets.
On "the Cup of the Dniester" the chairman of the Pridnestrovian Drug-free Federation of Powerlifting Anatoly Semerenko brought 25 athletes. He develops powerlifting in the village Krasnogorka of the Grigoriopolsky district. According to him, there are a lot of perspective children there. From 70 rural school students, 12 actively go in for powerlifting.
Oksana Granenko brought from Dnestrovsk her young pupils. Showed good result thirteen-year-old Alina Nedelko won the first prize through the girl is in this sport only for a month.
"At the competitions on the bench press, I lifted a 32.5 kg bar. Today it is my best result, but now I dream to lift a 40 kg. bar. I plan to continue sports and to achieve the best results", - Alina Nedelko told in the interview to our correspondent.
Another participant of competitions is also one of the judges of the tournament. Irina Abramova took part in the 60 kg category. Three years ago the teacher by profession Irina decided to play sports and did not regret. According to her, every year more girls appear in the tournament.
"There were 18 girls, and among them, there are very strong sportswomen who constantly come to a scaffold and new ones. So far newcomers leave with small results, but there is a hope that they will be engaged and follow this way of life, so they will show good results too. It is really pleasant when new surnames appear", - Irina Abramova told.
As a result of the tournament Lina Zubritskaya (Chisinau) took the first place among girls, Alexey Kolovrin (Tiraspol) became the best among young men, Alexander Semerenko (Tiraspol) was the best among juniors, Yury Osadchenko (Odessa) won the first prize among veterans, Oleg Boldishor (Chisinau) was the best in OPEN.
In the absolute category, BEST Oleg Boldishor won the Cup and an Anniversary Ring of the competitions. Other winners in the categories got medals and diplomas.
The tournament was organised by WPC/AWPC of Moldova headed by the Chairman Alexander Scherbakov with the assistance of the Dynamo Energy Club and the Pridnestrovian railroad.
