PRIDNESTROVIAN EGOR LASHKIN RETURNED FROM THE WORLD YOUTH CHESS OLYMPIAD

To his credit are 2 wins, 4 draws and 3 losses

Tiraspol, December, 6. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Olympics among players under 16 years old were held in the Turkish city of Konya. The tournament was attended by 46 teams from 39 countries. Pridnestrovian athlete played on the second board. 

At the beginning of the Olympics, Egor managed to win 2 games. But then in a match with an international master from Uzbekistan, he was defeated. Performance at such major competitions requires strong psychological training, and Egor Lashkin, as a debutant, was the most troubled. After 2 rounds he managed to stabilize the game. He didn`t lose the last 4 rounds, the game ended in a draw. The game with the representative of Armenia, which is among the world leaders, ended in a draw too. 

As a result, Moldavian team took the 18th place. The winner of the Olympics is the team of Uzbekistan. The prize-winners are India and China. Russia is on the 13th place. The coach of Moldavian youth chess team Ruslan Soltanich is pleased with the team play. He pointed out a good game and Tiraspol athlete.  

According to the athlete`s mentor, coach of the Tiraspol Sports School No. 3, Galina Saprykina, Yegor Lashkin is in the cohort of the strongest young chess players and will be regularly invited to training camps in Chisinau. 

“For Egor, this is the first major start. He has practically no experience playing in international tournaments, and this of course affects the quality of the game. To play well, you have to play with strong rivals a lot. Our school has delegated a chess player to the World Olympiad for the first time. We hope that the rest of the pupils of the school will catch up together with Egor” - Galina Saprykina shared with correspondent of Novosti Pridnestrovya news agency.
