Thousands of Pridnestrovians celebrated National Unity Day in the Alexander Nevsky Park on the territory of the Bendery fortress

Bendery, November, 4. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Today there was celebrated National Unity Day in our republic. This holiday is quite young for Pridnestrovie, but it is widely celebrated. Despite the fact that the events are held in all corners of the republic, today Alexander Nevsky Park in Bendery Fortress was in the middle of the action. Although it has been opened quite recently, Pridnestrovians are happy to come here.

As well as during the park opening, thousands of Bendery people and visitors, shared vivid emotions from the holiday. The head of state together with his family visited such a large-scale event.

“National Unity Day is a great holiday for both Russia and Pridnestrovie. People of 72 nationalities live in our republic. Pridnestrovie is a common house for all of them. Today's holiday brings together peoples, cultures and traditions. Today it was possible to witness how much the holiday is significant for citizens. People want to relax, share emotions and their traditions” – Vadim Krasnoselski told in an interview to journalists.

The holiday began with honor guard rota performance, the servicemen were replaced by schoolchildren.

More than 800 boys and girls took part in a flash mob. To the song “Pridnestrovie is a wonderful land” the participants formed a symbolic house, the roof of which was made up by the people of Pridnestrovie. Then they built the words "We are united".

Anyone who visited the park of Alexander Nevsky today, were able to touch the culture of the peoples inhabiting our republic. Russian, Ukrainian, Moldavian, Bulgarian national courtyards demonstrated their ancestors` way of life. The performances of folk groups have become a pleasant addition to the “houses” of friendly hosts.

Traditional dishes of many nations could be tasted at the cuisines parade. There were Russian pancakes, Moldavian mititeas, Uzbek pilov, Belarusian potato pancakes, and other culinary delights.

Soloists and artistic groups from all over the republic created a festive mood for all those present in the park. The concert was held on the main stage of the park. Foot tapping melodies did not leave citizens indifferent. They made dance both children and adults.

The concert was finished with a bright and colorful salute.

The festive evening continued with the Russian historical film “The Legend of Kolovrat”. This picture was chosen by the online voting participants, which took place on the Bendery’s television website. The film tells about the capture of Ryazan by the Mongol-Tatars in the 13th century and about the Ryazan warrior Evpatiy Kolovrat.
