There are accomplishments in economic crime control: more such crimes as illegal business activities, tax law violations, bribery and official forgery were detected.

Combating illegal drug trade

In the field of combating the illicit drug trade, 262 crimes (+1.6%) were detected this year. In addition, drug addicts committed 11% more crimes than last year. The Interior Ministry units will have to strengthen preventive work among certain categories of citizens, said Minister Ruslan Mova.

A major help in the fight against illicit drug trafficking is the annual operation "Poppy". As deputy head of the country's criminal police department Vyacheslav Yaremchuk said, only during a month of special events 64 criminal cases were initiated, including 40 cases for possession of drugs and 19 cases for sale.

Road Safety

The issue of ensuring road safety is under special control of the ministry's leadership. The State Traffic Inspectorate detected 36,881 violations of the Traffic Regulations, 684 drivers were detained for alcohol-impaired driving.

Fifty-three road accidents (-39) were registered, as a result of which 6 people died (-1), and 60 were injured (-42). Forty-eight accidents happened through drivers' fault. The main cause of the accident was speed violation. It caused every third incident.

The number of fires decreased

The state of fire safety in the country was also discussed during the meeting. A total of 154 fires were registered in the PMR, which is 16 fires less than in 2017. Eleven people were killed, and 15 injured. Firefighters saved 11 million rubles' worth of real assets.

Conclusion

Concluding the expanded meeting, Ruslan Mova noted the positive dynamics of the ministry's activities in many areas and outlined the areas in which work is to be intensified.

According to the minister, an important event which took place in the first six months was the conclusion of a reform conducted by the ministry. The approach to establishing benefits and incentives has been substantially changed, both for officers and for those who work as free contractors. Most of the ministry's personnel adopted a new-style uniform. Combat and weapons training was enhanced as well. All this, undoubtedly, affects the quality of the service.

"The past six months have revealed many positive aspects. Representatives of many departments seriously responded to the performance of their duties. The most decent officers have remained in our ranks. And this is good. Pridnestrovian citizens will be protected. The state has a strong shoulder on which they can lean in any difficult period," Ruslan Mova summed up.
