Tiraspol, 6 July. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Berlin hosted the international tournament in track and field athletics Berlin Open Grand Prix among athletes with disabilities from 30 June to 1 July. Over 400 sportsmen from more than 30 countries of the world took part in it. Depending on their functional capabilities the athletes were distributed among sports classes.
They competed in the running (eight events), high and long jumps, shot put, discus and javelin throw, as well as in the wheelchair racing.
Pridnestrovie's Yevgeny Yagudin competed in the shot put in the combined group with blind, visually impaired and intellectually disabled athletes. He took 8th place, showing the result of 9 m 12 cm. Among the blind athletes, he was second, losing only to the Brazilian thrower.
Yagudin exceeded the required qualification standard of 7 meters, with all his throws nearing 9 m. In the discus throw, his result was 25 m 30 cm.
The fulfilment of the standard gives the athlete the right to take part in the European Championships. Yevgeny Yagudin is a trainee of the Republican Sports Centre of Invalids. His coach is Alexander Moiseyenko.
