New series of books on Pridnestrovian history to be published by country's anniversary

The head of PSU's research laboratory told the president about preparatory work

Tiraspol, 25 June. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. During today's meeting with the President of the PMR, the interlocutors discussed the preparation of publications dedicated to the country's 30th anniversary.

It is planned to publish a four-volume book on Pridnestrovie's history, the president's press service reports. According to Nikolay Babilunga, head of the history research lab, the publication will reflect both widely known information and new facts of the Pridnestrovian history.

"Fundamental history is the same symbol of the state as the coat of arms, flag and anthem," said Babilunga.

President Vadim Krasnoselsky backed the scientist's opinion, adding that ignorance of own history is the first step towards the loss of statehood.

"Pridnestrovian statehood is 28 years old, but many young people today do not know its basics. If we seek international recognition of the republic, we should know why we have the right to seek it," the president believes.

In this regard, Vadim Krasnoselsky raised the issue of providing schools with domestic history textbooks. He recalled that since 2019 Centralised Testing on history will become mandatory, stressing the appropriateness of this approach.
