Tiraspol, 14 May. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Six students of the Faculty of Economics of Shevchenko Pridnestrovian State University took third place at the International Olympiad in the history of economic studies. The event was held at Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation in Moscow.
The Olympiad was attended by students from the Higher School of Economics, Abkhaz State University, Timiryazev Moscow Agricultural Academy and Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
The head of the PSU student group, associate professor of the department of economic theory and world economy of the Faculty of Economics Ivan Uzun said that the Olympiad had been held in three rounds.
"The first round was individual. Each team was represented by one participant. Our student, Irina Belotkach, won a 2nd-degree diploma. In addition, teamwork was also evaluated. The second round was a blitz poll. It was necessary to answer 20 questions on the history of economic doctrines in six minutes. The third one was a teamwork round. Each team asked their opponents two questions," Ivan Uzun noted.
Last year economics students from PSU also took third place at the 2nd International Student Olympiad in the history of economic studies.
This year, according to Ivan Uzun, the questions were more difficult.
"According to my estimates, we could have competed for second place. This year the difference between first and second place was only one point. We slipped 10 points behind second place," said Uzun.
The hosts of the competition - Financial University students - became the first; the Higher Schools of Economics team won second place.
Our team consisted of Nadezhda Shevchenko, Irina Belotkach, Vladlena Gavrilyuk, Julia Katerinchuk, Nikita Chevdar and Victoria Chernobay.
