Changing approaches to science

"We all need to constantly learn, acquire new knowledge, skills and habits," the president noted at a meeting with the rector of PSU

Tiraspol, 14 May. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/.  The president held a meeting with the rector of Pridnestrovian State University (PSU) Stepan Beril and presidential state adviser Anna Volkova.

Vadim Krasnoselsky outlined the need to change approaches to the work of the university's research laboratories and the choice of research topics. The latter, according to the president, should be practical in nature. In this way, they will be applied in various branches of the country's economy.

At the same time, the publication of scientific research papers should be accessible to management personnel and civil servants, the president underscored. Serious attention should be paid to fundamental science, he added.

According to the president, it is necessary to change the approach to the issue of further training for state employees.

"We all need to constantly learn, acquire new knowledge, skills and habits. Therefore, professional development should not be a mere formality," said Vadim Krasnoselsky.

It was said that in-depth study of the history of the PMR should be mandatory in educational institutions, including those that train personnel for the army and law enforcement agencies. It is expected that the curriculum will have been updated by the new academic year, the president's website reports.

Stepan Beril told the president about a meeting with his colleagues from Russia's education ministry during which he discussed the possibility of providing the university with educational laboratory and computer equipment. Support for the country's main university is one of the items on the agenda of the Russian-Pridnestrovian cooperation in 2018.
