Bendery Fortress to become tourist centre of Pridnestrovie

According to the President, there are plans to erect a number of facilities in its territory that will become part of a recreation zone for both Pridnestrovians and the country's guests

Bendery, 14 May. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Pridnestrovian President Vadim Krasnoselsky held a meeting in the territory of the Historical Military Memorial Complex "Bendery Fortress". Together with the head of state, construction works were inspected by presidential adviser Pavel Prokudin, deputy economic development minister Ivan Untu and head of the Bendery State Administration Roman Ivanchenko, the presidential press service reports.

According to Vadim Krasnoselsky, a year ago the territory adjacent to Bendery Fortress looked quite different: there were abandoned boxes of the military unit, dilapidated concrete structures and construction debris.

Today, more than five hundred saplings of deciduous and coniferous trees have been planted in the area allocated for the future Alexander Nevsky Park. The same number of trees are to be planted in the autumn. Lawns will be sawn in the coming days.

According to the president, there are plans to build a number of facilities in the fortress's territory that will become part of a recreation zone for both Pridnestrovians and the country's guests. There will be various pavilions and playgrounds for games and sports. Visiting the Alexander Nevsky Park and using an adjacent parking lot are supposed to be free of charge.

"Here every visitor will find a pastime and entertainment to his liking. So that a man came here with his family in the morning and left in the evening. It is planned to hold regular festivals, holidays, cultural events. The main goal is to make the Bendery Fortress the main tourist destination of the country," the president said, recalling that the commission of the object is scheduled for the 610th anniversary of Bendery.
