Tiraspol, 17 April. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. A number of actors and the main director of the Aronetskaya Pridnestrovian State Drama and Comedy Theater returned from the International Theater Festival "Russian Meetings", which took place from 5 to 11 April at the "Baltic House" theatre in St. Petersburg.
Within the framework of the festival, the 2nd Congress of the Association of Russian Theaters Abroad was held, which was attended by several dozen representatives of the Russian theatre school. They discussed the problems and prospects for the development of theatrical work. The Pridnestrovian theatre was represented by its director, an association member since 2017, Dmitry Akhmadiev.
Educational projects become an important part of every festival "Russian Meetings". This year the educational program was devoted to the Russian classics.
A week before the start of the main program, young actors from Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova and Pridnestrovie arrived in St Petersburg. They took part in workshops on stage speech and acting, visited the Museum of Theater and Music, saw theatre premieres, got acquainted with the modern culture of Russia's northern capital.
The result of the educational program was the staging "Love, Russian Style". Pridnestrovian representatives Irina and Vladislav Oleinik demonstrated their skills in the project.
Creative meetings were also held to discuss plans for further cooperation. On 8 April, the Pridnestrovian State Theatre presented the performance "Black Square", based on Leonid Andreyev's short stories, which successfully represented the country and the theatre at this festival.
The staging was a great success both on the part of theatre critics, honorary guests of the festival, as well as ordinary spectators.
A St Petersburg resident, Julia Alexandrova, noted that the Pridnestrovians had brought an incredibly powerful performance. "Thank you, artists, for your energy, strong acting and a new reading of the stories by Leonid Andreyev!" the spectator sincerely said.
