NGO members discuss with president new version of non-profit organisation law

The main purpose of the meeting was, according to Vadim Krasnoselsky, the search for common ground on the most contentious issues related to the activities of these organisations

Tiraspol, 21 March. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. President Vadim Krasnoselsky held a meeting with members of non-profit and non-governmental organizations.

For the first time NGOs and NPOs had an opportunity to discuss with the head of state the current issues and problems that they face in their activities. More than three dozen representatives of the non-profit sector gathered in the conference hall of the presidential administration, the presidential press service clarifies.

Opening the meeting, Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that NGOs worked in various spheres of the country's life - ecology, education, healthcare, etc. The main purpose of the meeting was, according to Vadim Krasnoselsky, the search for common ground on the most contentious issues related to the activities of these organisations. The relevance of the topic was related to the fact that Pridnestrovie is on the way to building a civil society, the president added.

At the start of the meeting, the interlocutors discussed a new version of the NGO law. Chairman of the Supreme Council committee on public associations, sports, information and youth policy Igor Buga recalled that its adoption had been preceded by a broad discussion, including with the participation of NGO members.

"The main goal of the new legal act is to draw up a register of NGOs and to understand what they are and what they do. The law will simplify the work of these organizations and remove many of the issues and difficulties they face today," explained the MP.

He announced the establishment of an advisory council, which would deal with the law enforcement practice of the new law. The president believes that it is necessary to organize the work of this council in the shortest possible time.

The NGO members approved the idea of establishing the advisory council and expressed the hope that it would become a real tool for solving the problems that their organisations face today. In particular, NGO workers do not have access today to education and healthcare organizations and cannot implement projects useful for the country.

The NGO members told the president that they were ready to work with students in the field of civic education, teaching applied skills, socialization of boarding school leavers. Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that he saw no obstacles to NCOs working in those spheres, calling their role in the process of education of the younger generation significant.

"Secondary education in our country is at a good level, and there is probably no need to make fundamental changes or introduce some special innovations. In addition, education is an immediate task of teachers," the president believes. He drew attention to the fact that the educational process must be carried out in accordance with the traditional values of Pridnestrovian society and the state policy in this area.

The president expressed his confidence that NGOs could play a significant role in the socialization of children studying at boarding schools. "Many kids are not to blame for becoming pupils of such institutions. Many of them with timely support and professional assistance will be able to live a normal life in the future. For them, as for no one else, socialization and communication are important," said Vadim Krasnoselsky.

The NGO members talked with the president about the need to adopt, similarly to the law on the state-private partnership, a law on public-state partnership, as well as about more active involvement of the public in discussing the most important issues for the country. According to them, they work closely with people on various issues, so they know about many problems firsthand and are ready to share their ideas and experience.

Vadim Krasnoselsky agreed that NGOs should take an active part in the life of Pridnestrovian society. The opinion of those who work in the non-profit sector could be useful in making decisions on the most important issues for the country. He added that the state, as far as it is concerned, should create the most convenient legal conditions for the work of NGOs.

The president thanked the interlocutors for an interesting dialogue and suggested that such meetings should be regular.
