Vadim Krasnoselsky: no rumaophobia in Pridnestrovie

The president cited examples that prove that there is no national intolerance in Pridnestrovian society

Moscow, 5 March. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. During the discussion at the international forum "Together with Russia", Pridnestrovian President Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke about the so-called Rumanian factor, which leaves an imprint on the policy pursued by the official Kishinev.

"As for the Rumanian factor, this is the subject of much discussion in Moldova. I know well the Rumanian history that relates to Bessarabia. A generation has grown up in Moldova, many of whoserepresentatives really consider themselves Rumanians. They want a union with Rumania. This is their choice, and there's nothing they can be blamed for. I, as a person and President, have a good attitude towards the people of Rumania, as well as the people of Moldova, Ukraine, etc. This is normal. We are building good-neighborly relations with other countries," said the president.

The head of state drew attention to the fact that Pridnestrovians were undeservedly accused of rumanophobia.

That's not true. I will cite just one example. We talked about the fallen soldiers of the Russian Empire buried in a unique memorial complex in Bender. Over 5,000 Russian soldiers from 115 regiments of the Russian Imperial Army are burried there. Among them are generals, officers and soldiers. There is also a foreign sector in the memorial. So, the Rumanians who died or were killed in Bendery from 1941 to 1944 are burried there. There are crosses on their graves; we give them military honors. How can we be accused of rumanophobia?" asked Vadim Krasnoselsky.

At the same time, the president states that the neighboring country does not study its own history but the history of Rumania. Meanwhile, only Pridnestrovie has preserved the Moldovan ethnos, literature and culture.

"If they want to study Rumanian history - they are welcome. This should not affect our relationship. Let the Moldovan people decide. I advised them to hold a referendum, as we did in Pridnestrovie. And let the people say what kind of policy they stand for. History will put everything in its place," believes Vadim Krasnoselsky.

The Pridnestrovian leader expressed his fears that Moldova’s domestic contradictions related to the choice between the union with Rumania and pro-Russian policies would grow. "This may result in rather bad consequences for Moldova itself, which I absolutely do not want. I want to see Moldova as a normal, stable country. People there want to live in peace," said the president.

In his opinion, it is unacceptable for citizens to become unwitting victims of geopolitical games.

The international forum "Together with Russia" is organized by Russky Mir Foundation. Heads of federal lgislative and executive bodies, famous politicians, representatives of Russian and foreign public organizations, mass media, scientists, jurists, clergymen are taking part in the forum. Pridnestrovie is represented by President Vadim Krasnoselsky, Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Shcherba, his deputy Galina Antyufeeva, heads of parliamentary committees Viktor Guzun and Alexander Korshunov, Chairman of the Youth Parliament Alexander Savich, local councilors.
