Tiraspol, 27 February. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Pridnestrovian President Vadim Krasnoselsky received an American delegation headed by US ambassador to Moldova James Pettit, the presidential press service reports.
Vadim Krasnoselsky stressed the constructive nature of the existing contacts, noted the interest of the parties in their development and thanked the diplomat for his attention to the situation around Pridnesgtrovie and his active participation in the negotiation process. As the president assured, the opinion and position of the US on issues of topical importance for Pridnestroviea are interesting and important.
James Pettit, in his turn, noted the progress in the negotiation process, including the work of the "5 +2" format. The participants spoke about the agreements which had been reached last year, noting the significance of their practical implementation. Vadim Krasnoselsky expressed confidence that all issues in the negotiations between the parties to the conflict should be studied and discussed locally.
According to president, the issue of Romanian-language schools functioning in Pridnestrovie has been settled as of today. The problem of land use in Pridnestrovie's Dubossary District is being resolved (the parties exchanged lists of land users). A meeting of expert (working) groups will be held tomorrow to discuss the apostille verification of university diplomas: it is expected that the Moldovan side will share its vision of this mechanism. Work is under way to solve telecommunication issues.
Among other topical issues, which still need to be resolved, are a motor transport problem, the unblocking of the Slobodka railway station, the termination of politically motivated criminal cases. The interlocutors also discussed a number of economic issues.
Vadim Krasnoselsky noted the fact that the country's economic entities were active and, most importantly, conscientious participants in foreign economic activities, and the economy of the state as a whole was open and transparent. In this case, there were problems associated with the functioning of the banking system, namely with correspondent accounts in commercial banks.
In this context, the president said that Pridnestrovie was ready to discuss the problems of interbank cooperation and drew attention to the agreement on the resumption of the work of a profile expert (working) subgroup at the level of chief negotiators of Pridnestrovie and Moldova. He expressed the hope that the dialogue in this area would be substantive, aimed at improving the situation of economic agents.
The interlocutors also discussed a wide range of topical issues on the bilateral agenda, having agreed to continue mutually beneficial cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian fields.
