No incidents occur in Security Zone during holidays

The situation remains stable and under control

Bendery, 11 January. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. According to the military command, the situation in the Security Zone remained stable and controlled during the holidays — no serious incidents have been registered, Pridnestrovian representative Vasily Vakarchuk said after the meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC).

"According to the reports of our military, no incidents occurred during the holidays. In this regard, we must say that our military worked excellently. The co-chairs kept the situation under control: via telephone, through face-to-face communication with senior military commanders," he noted.

During the New Year and Christmass holidays, the peacekeepers were serving in an emergency mode; the situation in the Security Zone was being monitored by ten groups of military observers. The Joint Military Command (JMC) and the JCC were promptly informed about all events.

Vakarchuk said that the following JCC meeting had been postponed becuase the sides could not reach a compromise on one of the "problematic" reports by the JMC.

In particular, Tiraspol representatives express concern about the establishment of a Moldovan terminal near the village of Dorotskoye in violation of the agreements reached at the JCC emergency meeting in 2014 which banned unilateral works at this post.

"Despite this, the Moldovan side has installed a trailer and thus made it impossible to carry out the decisions of the JCC emergency meeting.  These contradictions did not allow us to conclude the meeting," added Vakarchuk.

The discussion will continue next Thursday.
