Pridnestrovian and South Ossetian humane rights experts to share experience

This is one of the paragraphs in a cooperation agreement signed on 10 November by the ombudsmen of Pridnestrovie and South Ossetia

Tiraspol, 22 Novemeber. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. A cooperation memorandum signed on 10 November by the human rights commissioners of Pridnestrovie and South Ossetia will give a new impetus to the relationship of fraternal republics, the Pridnestrovian ombudsman, Vyacheslav Kosinsky, told the Supreme Council's press service.

This document was signed on 10 November in Tskhinval during an official visit of the Pridnestrovian delegation, led by Supreme Council speaker Alexander Scherba, to South Ossetia.

The two countries began to cooperate in the human rights sphere in 2008, when a cooperation agreement was signed by the ombudsmen of Soth Ossetia, Abkhazia and Pridnestrovie. In 2010, it was also signed by a representative of Nagorny Karabakh.

"In the face of continuous improvement of legislation of our countries, it is necessary to create new legal instruments which will be used by both countries. The agreement suggests the exchange of information in the field of human rights protection, the preparation of joint meetings, scientific and practical conferences, seminars and training sessions. In addition, one of the memorandum paragraphs implies the training of specialists and the exchange of experience between the specialists of our countries," said Vyacheslav Kosinsky.

The Pridnestrovian ombudsman also noted that the Tskhinval memorandum contained the basic provisions of another document — an agreement signed in October 2017 by the human rights commissioner of Russia and Pridnestrovie.

Kosinsky pointed out the fact that our country was the first unrecognised state with which Russia signed an agreement on human rights protection.
