Tiraspol, 21 September. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The topic of military danger to Ukraine by Pridnestrovie arose soon after relations between Moscow and Kiev had deteriorated. The PMR found itself between the milestones of this confrontation, including under the influence of the West. But everyone could see that there were no provocations on the part of Pridnestrovie, said Supreme Council member, Andrey Safonov, on TV.
The president's special representative on Ukraine, Vladimir Yastrebchak, underscored that any allegation of a military threat from the territory of Pridnestrovie did not stand up to scrutiny.
"Pridnestrovie does not pose any threat, which is clear to any reasonable person in Ukraine. On the other hand, when we see extremely ideologised propaganda, then it leaves no room for common sense. It is not Pridnestrovie that poses a threat but National Guards units who, when at a loose end and with a large number of weapons on hand, constitute an unpredictable force in the midst of political turbulence in Ukraine, which can be used for different purposes. It is not a problem of Pridnestrovie but of Ukraine's domestic policy. They need to provide a cover, justification in order to unite them around an artificial threat," opined Yastrebchak.
"In the very near future, Pridnestrovie needs to increase its activity and show that we know what to say to official Kiev and the Ukrainian regions adjacent to Pridnestrovie. I mean the normalisation of relations and the development of economic cooperation. Besides, there is a common interest to prevent Romanian influence and its approaching to the Black Sea regions.
