Tiraspol, 29 July. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. President Krasnoselsky signed a decree to establish a commission for the development of the historic military memorial Bendery Fortress. It is available on the official website of the president.
As noted in the document, the commission, which will work on a voluntary basis, is established «with the aim of restoring of one of the most significant monuments of architecture and an object of the historical and cultural heritage of Pridnestrovie, of developing a set of measures aimed at the development of the museum and the promotion of its tourist attractiveness.»
Presidential adviser Pavel Prokudin was appointed head of the commission, and the interior minister, Ruslan Mova, was appointed his deputy. The commission also includes the ministers of defence and economic development, heads of the Bendery State Administration, the State Service for Culture and Historical Heritage, representatives of the presidential administration and the Tiraspol and Dubossary Diocese.
Within a week, the commission should submit to the president for approval a perspective plan for the development of the historic military memorial, including a list of required activities, timeframes, funding sources and the persons in charge of their implementation.
As noted in the annexe to the decree, the implementation of the plan is necessary in order to maintain the historical image of the fortress, including its defensive elements, internal buildings and structures.
«Besides, the implementation of the planned activities will clarify the remaining historical boundaries of the Bendery Fortress, determine the legal basis for the implementation of an activity with a clear definition and delimitation of liability and confirm the functional use of historical buildings," says the document.
The main focus of the plan is the systematic development of the fortress as the main museum and tourist destination of Pridenstrovie, which was launched back in 2008.
