Dubossary, 29 July. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The head of the Dubossary State Administration, Ruslan Chaban, has congratulated the servicemen of the Russian peacekeeping contingent on an anniversary date.
«We had had no national discord; we managed to defend our right to live in our homeland. It was Dubossary that were under constant fire in 1992, and 25 years ago Dubossary inhabitants met Russian peacekeepers with flowers and tears," underscored Ruslan Chaban.
Chaban thanked the peacekeepers for their courage, impeccable service and them valuable gifts on behalf of the state administration.
This was followed by a solemn military parade dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Russia's peacekeeping contingent in Pridnestrovie and a ceremony honouring peacekeepers.
As it was noted during a rally, a unique peacekeeping operation has been carried out in Pridnestrovie for 25 years, its main achievement being the absence of bloodshed and shelling, the official web site of the Dubossary State Administration reports.
The commemorative event opened the ceremony of raising the flags of the PMR and Dubossary.
The military parade was inspected by the head of the Dubossary District, Ruslan Chaban, who congratulated the peacekeepers and all Dubossary inhabitants on the memorable date.
«The day of 29 July 1992 has become the history of our state as the beginning of the country's peaceful period of development. People gave flowers to peacekeepers thanked them for coming to Pridnestrovie and halting the merciless bloodshed. Dubossary met Russian peacekeepers like soldiers liberating the city from the Nazis in 1944. For 25 years, the peacekeepers have been guarding peace preventing the aggressor from applying sanctions against Pridnestrovians. Throughout this period, the leaders of some countries have kept saying that peacekeepers should be withdrawn from Pridnestrovie, and the peacekeeping format should be changed. But we are convinced now, as well as we were convinced in 1992, that while peacekeepers are standing on the border, peace will remain on our soil," said Ruslan Chaban.
On behalf of all Dubossary inhabitants, Chaban expressed gratitude to the peacekeepers for their responsibility, restraint and professionalism.
A number of servicemen of the Pridnestrovian peacekeeping contingent were also awarded valuable gifts.
Besides, anniversary medals dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the peacekeeping mission in Pridnestrovie were awarded for active participation in the establishment of peace in Pridnestrovie.
