Tiraspol, 26 July. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The peacekeeping operation launched on 29 July 1992 deserves to be included as a successful example in all peacekeeping textbooks, Russia's ambassador at large Sergey Gibarev believes. His welcome message to the international conference on the 25th anniversary of the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester was read by the senior adviser of the Russian embassy to Moldova, Peter Urzhumov.

Gubarev is convinced that the peacekeeping format applied in Pridnestrovie is unique. It has proved its efficiency over the years as there has been not a single fighting between the conflicting parties; no peacekeeper has died, and the situation in the Security Zone remains predictable and manageable.

«Breaking the classical canons of such operations, the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester, nevertheless, efficiently addresses the challenges it faces to ensure peace and stability in the region," says the message.

The fact that the current peacekeeping format has no alternative has been proven by time, President Krasnoselsky underscores in his welcome message.

According to the head of state, the deployment of Russia-led peacekeeping forces is a factor for a stable and secure future of the entire region.

«Twenty-five years separates us from the bloody events that divided the life of contemporary Pridnestrovie into 'before' and 'after'. The large-scale aggression of Moldova against Pridnestrovie claimed the lives of over 800 Pridnestrovians, and only thanks to Russia and the Russian soldiers the number of victims of this undeclared war did not increase," says the president's address which was read out by the foreign minister, Vitaly Ignatyev.

Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled that on 21 July 1992 the presidents of Russia and Moldova, in the presence of the head of Pridnestrovie, signed a peaceful settlement agreement, and on 29 July one of the most successful peacekeeping operation began with the introduction of Russian peacekeepers and formation of a tripartite Joint Control Commission.

«Thus, peace was established on the Dniester banks. I am convinced that only the presence of the joint peacekeeping forces led by Russia is a factor for a stable and secure future of the entire region," underscored the president.
