Tiraspol, 21 May. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. It was reported last Friday that Ukraine's State Agency for Food Safety and Consumer Protection had made a decision to put a ban on the transit of food to Pridnestrovie since 20 May if the transit had not been authorised by Moldova's National Agency for Food Security.
In the meantime, according to the information provided by the agriculture minister, Efimiy Koval, the ban might apply not only to the goods that come through Ukraine but also to the products manufactured in Ukraine.
Nikita Isayev, director of the Russian Institute of Contemporary Economics, commented on this decision in an interview with our agency.
«Naturally, putting pressure on Pridnestrovie means putting pressure on the Russian Federation. Since Russia has not taken a strong stance on Pridnestrovie, trying to build relations with Moldova, such actions towards Pridnestrovie will continue. This is why Russia must take a stronger stance towards itself and its allies, including the PMR," underscored Isayev.
