Japanese journalists get acquainted with work of Pridnestrovie's Interior Ministry

They asked questions about the criminal situation as a whole and the work of separate police departments

Tiraspol, 11 May. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Journalists from Japan's NHL TV company visited Pridnestrovie to see the celebration of the 72nd anniversary of the Great Victory. They were particularly interested in the work of the PMR's Interior Ministry.

As the head of the group, Azuma Noboru, said, for many years their channel has made reports about unrecognised states. Pridnestrovie has long come into the view of the Japanese journalists, and this year they have had the opportunity to visit the republic.

«The meeting with interior minister Ruslan Mova lasted about two hours. The Japanese journalists were interested in a fairly wide range of issues: from the criminal situation as a whole to the work of separate interior [police] departments. Thus, there were question about illicit drug trafficking, the existence of organised criminal groups, or mafia, as they said, categories of serious crimes, the number of road accidents and the age groups of victims, smuggling offences and cooperation with Moldova's law enforcement agencies," the Interior Ministry's press service reports.

Special attention was given to the work of Bendery's interior department as it functions in a high-security zone along with a similar Moldovan unit.

«I have the impression that I've come back to the Soviet Union. Everything reminds about it: money, the way people are dressed, how amiable and kind they are… This makes my heart warm. I am very glad to have come to a country where I can see the Soviet Union one more time… Now that I'm back in Japan, I am going to tell everyone there's no need to fear Pridnestrovie. Yes, you don't know where it is, but it doesn't mean it's dangerous. It is really very good and calm here," Azuma Noboru has shared his impressions of the visit.

The Japanese guests also visited the historical monuments supervised by the Interior Ministry: Bendery Fortress and Historical War Memorial.
