The victory of fascism in May 1945 is the most remarkable and significant event of the 20th century, said President Vadim Krasnoselsky in an interview with The president underscored, at the same time, that that was the victory over the fascist plague rather than over individual states.
«Thanks to the sacrifice of a Soviet soldier, the Soviet state managed to destroy fascism and Nazism. Thanks to a Soviet soldier, many nations gained peace and the right to live in the world. It should be believed that Europe regretted, but this strange regret occurred only in 1945, not in 1944 or 1943, but on 9 May 1945. I am convinced it is the Soviet Union that stopped this inhuman war," concluded the president.
Commenting on the examples of revising history in some post-Soviet states, Krasnoselsky highlighted the impossibility of finding a compromise with fascism and Nazism.
«Those leaders who are making advances to the Nazis and fascists pass sentence on themselves, and it will enter into force sooner or later. You can't do so, and you can't trample on the memory of ancestors. The best way to forget your people is to forget your own history," the president believes.
The president added that the strength of the Pridnestrovian people lies not only in unity, but also in preserving historical memory, «the memory of your ancestors and victories».
