Tiraspol, March 22. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. In the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the head of the foreign service Vitaly Ignatyev met with the delegation from the Federal Republic of Germany headed by the president of the Social Democratic Party in the Landtag of Bavaria Markus Rinderspacher today. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany in RM Ulrike Maria Knotz also took part in the meeting, the Pridnestrovie's Foreign Ministry's press service reports.
Greeting the guests, Vitaly Ignatyev drew attention to a long history and a high level of cooperation between Pridnestrovie and Germany in the trade and economic spheres first of all. The Pridnestrovie's Foreign Minister also noted that during the German presidency in the OSCE a certain progress had been achieved in the negotiation process with the Republic of Moldova within the Berlin 'Constant Meeting …' in 2016.
In this context, Vitaly Ignatyev informed the German guests on the current situation in Pridnestrovie, told about the foreign policy agenda of the country and the aims and tasks of the state at the present stage. The diplomat emphasized that an indisputable priority was the course on independence and worldwide recognition of Pridnestrovie.
During the meeting, the sides specially focused on the situation in Pridnestrovie-Moldova relations. The Foreign Minister drew attention of the German representatives to the possible negative implications for the Pridnestrovie's economy, freedom of movement and regional security caused by the plans of Moldova and Ukraine to establish joint customs border control at the Kuchurgan checkpoint.
Vitaly Ignatyev emphasized that declarations of the Moldovan side about some certain 'positive role' of the joint control aren't true at all, at the same time well founded reasons of Pridnestrovie about the disruptiveness of such plans were ignored by the Republic of Moldova on purpose.
In this regard, the Pridnestrovie's Foreign Minister expressed confidence that the closest attention of the international partners to this burning issue was needed to prevent escalation of tension throughout the region.
In the end of the meeting, the participants of the discussion had expressed readiness to continue mutually advantageous contacts.
