Tiraspol, 11 January. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Healthcare should be modern, high-quality and affordable to the public, the president said during today's enlarged meeting of the government. Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that Pridnestrovie should gradually adopt (with a reduction in tariffs for paid services) the system of free public healthcare. Hospital patients should undergo all necessary medical examinations free of charge.

He also called on the relative authorities to find funds for the treatment of Pridnestrovians abroad.

«It is necessary together with the Supreme Council to provide funding within the 2017 budget for those in need [for treatment abroad]. These are people's lives. Many surgical operations cannot be conducted in Pridnestrovie. The people who do not have such an opportunity simply die," said the president.

He also instructed the Ministry of Healthcare to develop a national programme for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and cancer. And for better treatment of the latter, it is proposed to create at the premises of the Republican Clinical Hospital and the medical department of PSU a surgical centre and a research lab for oncopathologies.

«Today Pridnestrovian citizens receive such assistance outside the republic. Unfortunately, as practice shows, the percentage of cancer patients is rising. Therefore, if we do not create scientific facilities here — a university department, a research lab where practice and science will be summarised, we will be lagging behind; so, take it under personal control," said Vadim Krasnoselsky.

Speaking about the modern medical equipment supplied by ANO Eurasian Integration, the president noted that it should be distributed according to its functional purposes.

«Pridnestrovie has received 7,000 items of medical equipment, which should be efficiently distributed so that this equipment could work for the benefit of citizens' health," he said, highlighting the need to enhance the skills of doctors to enable them to employ this equipment.

The president also called for an analysis of the situation with medicine prices, noting that the situation where the same medicine is two times more expensive in Pridnestrovie than in Moldova and Ukraine is simply inadmissible.

More attention will be given to countryside outpatient clinics and first aid/obstetric stations. According to Vadim Krasnoselsky, they must work around the clock (this refers to emergency specialists) and be accessible even in the most distant villages.

«If possible, it is necessary to open pharmaceutical points in distant places and exempt them from paying rent at the legislative level. If a pharmaceutical point cannot be opened, the work of mobile pharmacies should be organised at least once every few days or a week. This is all feasible. And big companies selling pharmaceutical products should be additionally charged on receiving a licence with providing our distant villages with these goods. There is nothing terrible in it," he said.
