Rogozin: detractors of Pridnestrovie may take advantage of internal conflict in republic

The Russian vice premier told the RTR Moldova TV channel about the results of his visit to Pridnestrovie and Moldova

Tiraspol, 18 October. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Russia's vice premier Dmitry Rogozin told the RTR Moldova TV channel about the results of his visit to Pridnestrovie and Moldova. He particularly spoke about the Russian humanitarian assistance to Pridnestrovie, Electromash plant and Russian-Moldovan relations. Rogozin also raised the subject of elections in both countries.

In the PMR the Russian vice premier took part in the opening ceremony of the Moldavian-language school in Tashlyk village. Rogozin noted a high-level technical equipment of the school. Russia, according to the high-ranking official, will continue to improve the infrastructure of the education sector in the republic. In the near future the new school in Tashlykwill be supplied with the necessary number of Moldavian-language textbooks.

«We'll find opportunities, publish these textbooks on our own so that they will be published in the Cyrillic alphabet, in the real, true Moldavian language. We are certain to do it so that kids could learn," underscored Rogozin.

Rogozin also touched upon the subject of the presidential elections in the PMR, explaining that Russia is interested in political stability in the republic.

«We have no reason to believe that one candidate is more pro-Russian or less pro-Russian — they are all pro-Pridnestrovian, which is the most important thing. The main thing is that in the heat of the struggle candidates will not forget about certain restrictions, about external oversight because [there are] many detractors of Pridnestrovie and some will certainly take advantage of any weakening of the republic because of this conflict," said the vice premier.

In Tiraspol, the special envoy of the Russian president on Pridnestrovie met the major presidential candidates — the incumbent president, Yevgeny Shevchuk, and the parliamentary speaker, Vadim Krasnoselsky. In the office of the presidential administration Rogozin backed the government and the president, noting that «the election campaign makes the authorities get distracted from work», but «this way should be passed”. In the meantime, he expressed hope that that all branches of power would resume dialogue, and the parliament would pass the government's bills. In the Supreme Council Rogozin urged the speaker to work constructively and proposed, in particular, to assist in organising a Russian-Pridnestrovian round table of industrialists.

According to Rogozin, Russia will work with the politicians «who are not mafia-sponsored or puppets», but stand up «for their country, for their people». «I am sure such [politicians] exist. Any country has always people like that," he noted.

«Pridnestrovie is going to hold an election; Moldova is going to hold an election. It is clear that this will end soon, and all this rhetoric will become a thing of the past," concluded the Russian politician.

Rogozin was pleasantly impressed by the Pridnestrovian plant Elektromash. During his visit to Tiraspol Russia's vice premier met the management and employees of the flagship enterprise of the Pridnestrovian machine-building industry. He promised to assist in seeking new market outlets for the plant's electric motors, which he greatly assessed.

«The quality of motors is very good. Their buyers are very serious — Transneft and in the future Gazprom, Rosneft. These companies are global brands, very picky, capricious in terms of quality control. If they buy these products, this means they [Electromash workers] work well. Of course, this requires technical re-equipment. But with more orders, they will have more money and this very financial baggage to retool the plant and thereby raise productivity and ease the life of people working at this enterprise. The director [of Elektromash] shows a desire to seek new orders, produces new product items. The main thing is there is a market-oriented design bureau," said Rogozin.

Back in 2012, some shares of Eletromash were transferred to the state. Amid regional economic crisis, the state-owned enterprise is demonstrating stamina and dynamism. This did not go unnoticed by Rogozin, who pointed out that the plant management show such managerial qualities that many directors of the Russian defence industry could only envy.

Summing up the meeting with the Moldovan authorities, he pointed out that today there are new trends in relations between Moscow and Chisinau. According to Rogozin, Russia and Moldova have shifted to a more pleasant conversation.

«Moldova would like to return to the Russian market, and it has something to offer. It is important to secure that this will be Moldovan goods, and not those that are coming now to the Moldovan market from the European Union. I'm afraid that instead of some new quality from the European Union, migrants will come here. This is what most likely should be expected. But for all that we are speaking some other language now, and this language is much more pleasant," concluded the Russian official.
